About Us

Trust Is Valuable

VW’s Principals have operated real estate investment assets in the retail, multifamily, office and telecom tower sectors for over 33 years and have the experience, track record and the relationships to evaluate and acquire the right assets for our investment strategies.

Our History

Varner Wakefield was formed in 2014 by Dean Varner and John Wakefield as a value-add real estate private equity investor to build on a portfolio of real estate assets that were acquired by Dean Varner together with the Wakefield Family starting in 1997.

Leveraging our combined 60+ years of experience in real estate operations, investment syndications, capital markets, and strategic development, we launched VW to provide a platform for our partners to grow equity capital.

Our Leadership

Our leadership team is seasoned and experienced. Varner Wakefield’s professionals work together in a coordinated team environment where we have a corporate culture of respect and operational excellence. Our team consists of longstanding employees that benefit from the success of the firm.

Our Mission

We have one simple mission that guides every decision we make: Be the most trusted and best performing real estate investment firm in the private equity space.

This vision requires selectivity and our track record and results reflect this discipline. The VW team of close-knit professionals operates on a core set of guiding principles that include integrity, transparency and accountability.

We promote an innovative and entrepreneurial culture that results in creative solutions and competitive advantages for our clients. These values and principles are at the heart of everything we do. They are how we create value for our investors.

Our Results

VW has succeeded with value-add real estate investments and decisions in a variety of economic environments. For over three decades, we have never failed to significantly increase the value and performance of a real estate asset entrusted to us. This includes $400mm of apartment communities, Class A and B office buildings, retail centers and telecom towers.
